Tata Indicom

About:

Tata Indicom is the moniker under which the Tata Group offers telecom services throughout the country, with Tata Indicom Broadband being the brand under which broadband services are offered. The Tata group's Internet arm primarily runs off VSNL, which until a few years back, was wholly owned by the Government Of India.

In early 2004, VSNL acquired Dishnet DSL's Internet Business, and marked its entry into the Broadband market. VSNL later pipped Reliance in its acquisition of Tyco Global Network and its 60,000 km submarine cable network.

Technology:

Tata-Indicom provides ADSL and Metro Ethernet broadband connections. More detailed information on the connection will be added shortly (once it is verified).

Notes:

Pre-paid plans:

  • Installation charges of Rs. 1000 for plans with a 1 month validity.
  • Installation charges of Rs. 500 for plans with a minimum 3 months validity.
  • No installation charges for plans with a minimum 6 months validity.
  • All plans come with a dial-up fall-back option at Rs. 8 / hour.

Post-paid plans:

  • Installation charges range from Rs. 0 to Rs. 2000 depending on term of commitment and location.
  • Refundable security deposits range from Rs. 0 to Rs. 1000 depending on term of commitment and location.
  • A static IP is provided for all connections.
  • Plans with the D/M suffix are the same as those without the suffix, except for the fact that they are several magnitudes more expensive. D/M signifies New Delhi (and NCR) and Mumbai which is where these plans are available.
